“Having had setters my whole life, I was shocked to hear that so many are abandoned each year in Spain and other countries by their hunters. We adopted Remy, a blind Gordon Setter from Spain and she joined our two setters Mack and Alf in late 2017. Having an Irish, English and Gordon setter I may be biased, but they really are a wonderful breed that I couldn’t imagine living without and I know a lot of our adopters would agree!

Adopting Remy taught me more than I thought I would ever need to know about dogs and it never seems to stop! I soon starting helping SeBPRA rehome dogs, focussing mainly on setters, as well as helping with fundraising and other parts of the charity as we grow. Working with animals has always been a dream of mine and there is nothing as amazing as helping to take a dog out of a kill shelter, fund it to stay somewhere safe and then watch as they meet their new family and learn that they are safe and loved at last. Despite having a full time career as well, SeBPRA tends to take up a big chunk of my time, alongside my own dogs!

Since adopting Remy, we have fostered as well as expanded our own little gang with the addition of Bruno and Arey, we have a real soft spot for the more complicated or wonky dogs which helps endlessly when it comes to dog rescue!

It’s been wonderful to watch the setter team grow over the years and a privilege to help hundreds of setters and other dogs find their new homes and support adopters along the way. My passion is advocating for reactive dogs or dogs with behavioural issues which has led to IMDT qualifications in order to help adopters best understand their dogs.”
