English Setter, <1 Year Old

Ollie is a young English Setter less than 1 year old, DOB 18.07.23

Ollie is a special boy looking for a special home. At just 8 months old, Ollie was going to be homeless so he joined the SeBPRA family. When he arrived at the shelter, it soon became apparent why his hunter was going to discard him as he appeared to have a sore leg that needed vet treatment. So off he went to the vet only for us to discover that the poor boy had been in pain for some time and has hip dysplasia. He’s had a thorough vet check and at the moment, the vet is hopeful that with a good diet and building muscle, he can avoid having to have an operation, but time will tell and he will be closely monitored. In either event, he’s looking for a home that can take care of him, work around his exercise needs and provide enrichment and mental stimulation if he needs rest days, now or in the future. Dogs with hip dysplasia can live amazing fulfilled lives in homes with the right attitudes but Ollie would not fit a home keen to run with a new dog or hoping to do strenuous exercise on a regular basis. He is currently on injections to help with his pain and will continue to have these to help his quality of life while his hip is assessed.

Despite all this, Ollie is a really happy chappy. He’s friendly with other dogs and enjoys playing, he’s always happy with a smile on his face. He loves people and is very sweet and affectionate and comes running when he’s called at the shelter.
