English Setter, 2 Years Old

This handsome chap is Oddie, a 2 year old English setter

Very sadly, Oddie (now Ollie) is looking for a new home due to a very big and unforeseen change in his adopters circumstances. He’s currently based in Lincolnshire

Oddie is a really lovely boy. As you can see from the videos, he is already doing very well with his training indoors after 8 short weeks and is very intelligent and eager to please. He’s very obedient in the house, waits for his dinner, doesn’t steal from the other dog, is very gentle and takes direction well. He’s a really happy cheery boy and very affectionate.

He currently lives with a resident dog and cat who he gets along with very well and plays with the other dog lots. He adores other dogs and really enjoys meeting them on walks too.

He loves to go to the local secure field and have a run around, although his recall is still hit and miss, at least at the moment! He does have some prey drive and selective hearing in a typical working setter way! He loves getting in the car and going on an adventure and travels well. He still needs work on walking nicely on a harness.

Oddie is still afraid of people he doesn’t know. On walks, he can bark when he sees people he doesn’t know. This is common with rescue dogs and he needs an adopter who can work with him to overcome these issues in the correct way. A home with walks away from busy areas while he settles and learns new people aren’t threatening would be beneficial. He would be best in a quieter house where he can be slowly introduced to any visitors as to not overwhelm him. He is not an aggressive dog but he is very uncertain and should not be pushed outside of his comfort zone too fast.

Info from shelter: Oddie has arrived at the shelter about a week ago (early August). Tati says he’s a really amazing dog, he’s super affectionate, good with other dogs, people and kids.

He’s very active, he loves to play and run outside. He can be a bit shy at first but he’s a very happy boy and doesn’t have fears like a lot of the dogs we help

NB: Only applications with resident dogs will be considered for Oddie at this stage
