Sabueso, 3 Years Old

Naro is a very handsome 3 year old Sabueso, a type of Spanish hound.

He arrived at the shelter in February after his hunter decided he didn’t want him anymore. He’s a healthy weight so we don’t think he every struggled for food but it’s clear his hunter has used negative training techniques to get him to do what he wants and he’s scared if anybody raises their hands or makes sudden movement. He needs a kind adopter who can teach him that he doesn’t need to be scared of humans now and he’ll never have negative consequences for any of his actions. The moment anybody raises their voice, Naro drops to the floor in fear.

He’s been in the run with make and female dogs and he gets on with them very well but he can be territorial with his food so he’s fed on his own.

He’s very shy when he doesn’t know somebody but you can win him round quite quickly. He’s very submissive and quite obedient in the shelter. He walks well on his lead at the moment but that could all change when he finds his feet and learns how fun and exciting walks can be. He’s already very strong if he sees a cat or anything he wants to pull after so he needs an adopter who can cope with a big strong dog on a lead.
