English Setter, 3 Years Old

UPDATE: Kiss, now called Purdy, is very sadly looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Sadly her adopter has had some unexpected news about her health which means she’s got to go through extensive treatment and has had to make the heartbreaking decision that as much as she loves Purdy, she just isn’t going to be able to provide what she needs at the same time as looking after herself. She is currently based in East Sussex and living with other dogs.

She’s wonderful girl who will make the perfect addition to a family, her adopter puts it best:

“Purdy is a little bundle of joy. Despite her challenging beginnings, she has blossomed into a confident and cheerful girl. She adores people and thrives in a lively household. At home, she’s calm and content to observe as you move from room to room, but when it’s time for a walk, her excitement and alertness shine through. She loves her walks and enjoys spending time in the garden, especially running and chasing birds.

We’ve been working on her long-range recall. While she enjoys running off, she’ll respond to a whistle and her name, often checking in to see where you are. She’s still learning her basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down, but her love for treats makes training easy, and she’s progressing quickly. Purdy has a gentle, submissive nature, and she’s learned the boundaries with the other dogs.

Purdy is great in the car and enjoys traveling, whether she’s in the boot with the other dogs or sitting beside you. Either way, she’ll settle down and snooze until the handbrake is pulled. She has a strong prey drive for birds but doesn’t show any interest in sheep or livestock, having spent plenty of time with us on the farm. Above all, she’s incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than a cuddle, often curling up next to you for hours.”

Kiss is a 3 year old English Setter, DOB 19.08.21

Kiss is a beautiful girl who belonged to a hunter who also breeds setters, she was surplus to requirements. She’s got a brilliant character, she’s very sociable with dogs with a submissive nature. She shares her kennel with 3 males and she gets on with them very well at the shelter

She’s very affectionate with people and soon becomes attached. She picks to stay close by and comes when she is called in a secure area (this may of course change on a fun walk!). She isn’t used to being walked on a lead so will need some work in that area but also doesn’t pull excessively at the moment
