English Setter, 5 Years Old
Kara is a 5 year old English setter, DOB 05/06/15
Kara has a sad story. She lived on a man’s land for her whole life. We’re not sure if he was a hunter or not but he had 4 dogs, Kara being one of them. They were all very neglected and when they were rescued, two of the mastins needed extensive eye surgery, they had a lot of damage to their eyes and were in pain but deprived of any vet care. Luckily, Kara was not in any pain and healthy despite her tough life.
The man died and nobody wanted his dogs so she’s at a shelter now. They say she arrived very scared and sad. She looks older than her age due to her past. When she first arrived, she trembled in fear when she saw people. She is very submissive and a really good girl, they say. She gets on with all the other dogs. She’s wary of children since people can still be scary to her but she’s not shown any bad gestures either.
She’s now sharing a kennel with Rex who has helped her come out of her shell a lot. He has taught her how to play and she’s much happier. They sleep in a bed together despite having two beds in their run and they love each other very much. Rex has found a new home and the shelter think she’ll be sad when he leaves so it would be lovely to find her another home to go to who can help her continue to build up her confidence. She would do best in a home with another dog since she may find her new humans scary but she’ll find a lot of comfort in another dog.
