English Setter, 10 Years Old
UPDATE: Julieta and Porthos are still looking for a home. They have changed a lot in the last few months at the shelter and are doing really well. They play together all day and have really started to interact with humans and are affectionate now. They are somewhat shy with people they don’t know. We are looking for a home for them together so they don’t need to go through any more trauma in their life
Julieta is an English setter, 10 years old, DOB 12/10/10
Julieta has a really sad story, here’s what the shelter say:
The story of Julieta, Porthos and their son Dartañan, for us is sad. We found a publication in a sale portal (Milanuncios) that said that due to the death of the owner there were 3 hunting dogs, the condition that they put is that they had to take all three, many hunters called wanting to get Dartañan who was 5 years old but They did not love parents who were 10. We were scared to think that in order to finally get rid of the problem of the three dogs, they would give them to someone and they would abandon them or do something bad to the grandparents. So we didn’t hesitate and we picked them up. Personally it has been a very hard rescue because of the place where they were and the horrible and unsanitary conditions in which they lived. It seems as if they have never left that chenil where they were. The three dogs have a dependency relationship between them but they are not very compatible, it is like they have not known anything other than other dogs
Julieta is the mother. She was kept outside the kennel, chained up in a stone hut where she could only ever lie down. Despite how truly awful her life has been, she is very affectionate with people and really sweet. She is docile and loving and walks well on her lead at the moment. She got on well with Porthos and Dartañan but she is very scared of other dogs and shows her teeth in fear.
To top off her bad luck, she has had to have lumps removed from her breast tissue and needs another operation to remove some more. This lovely girl really deserves a home that can finally teach her what love is and let her rest somewhere soft and cosy at last after 10 years on hard floor. She would do well as an only dog or with a very friendly resident dog who will respect her and an adopter who can take introductions extremely slowly for her
