English Setter, 2 Years Old
UPDATE: Iron is now in foster in Dunfermline, Scotland and is thriving. Having only arrived in late June, the comfort of a home and family have really helped Iron make progress with his confidence which is so lovely to see after so long in the shelter.
Having a resident dog in the house has really helped Iron relax and it’s important he has another confident and friendly buddy in his forever home. He’s learning to share his space which could be a little scary at first and gradually becoming more and more confident in the home environment, having much preferred the garden when he first arrived. Of course, in true setter style, he has found the sofa in his foster home after 2 years of hard floors and found it’s rather comfy and home life isn’t so bad after all!
Having being so scared, Iron now gets excited to see his humans each morning, turning into a wonderfully bouncy and confident boy as he gets braver by the day. He’s learning to enjoy toys and often takes them off the to the garden although he has got slightly confused at times and taken a controller and a shoe as well- sometimes these things are confusing at first! He loves to play with the resident dog in his foster home which is a real delight to watch.
Iron is looking for a relatively quiet home with a resident dog who can take time to help improve Iron’s confidence at his own pace. He’s doing fantastically well in a short space of time and it’s magical to watch him come out of his shell with his foster home and will be a very rewarding addition to any home!
UPDATE: Iglu and Iron arrived at the shelter in June 2023. They have improved in confidence over time but are still shy if they don’t know people or dogs. They have always shared a kennel together, as well as with other dogs, and have always got along well with their kennel mates, always being the ones to avoid any conflict if it arises. When they feel safe, they are happy and playful boys and are very affectionate once they know people. They are struggling in the shelter environment and looking for a quiet home where they can flourish as soon as possible. They’d do best in a less urban home with no small children
Iron is a 1 Year Old English Setter, DOB 09.05.22
Iron is a young setter given up by his hunter in the Basque Country, along with his buddy, Iglu.
Iron arrived with many fears, nervous and distrustful, but in a short time he has improved a lot even though he finds being brave somewhat difficult still. He’s really dependent on Iglu for confidence and will need a resident dog in his new home
