Hound Mix, 3 Years Old
Hipo is 3 year old hound mix, DOB 01.10.20
Hipo has a different story to most of the dogs we help. Hipo, along with several other dogs, were ceased from criminals by the police locally to one of the rescues we work with, and of course they stepped in to help the dogs. It was clear from the conditions they were taken from that none of these dogs have had a good life and sadly they’ve now been at the shelter for 3 years.
Hipo is a handsome medium sized dog (18kg). He is very sociable with other dogs and gets along wonderfully with them, having lived with many dogs over the 3 years. He could live as the only dog in the family or with other dogs in the same home and is also cat tested so could live with cats as well
He has balanced energy and doesn’t show much hunting instinct at the moment with moments of sleeping and moments of playing. He’s quite quiet at home, and on walks he likes to smell and take in his surrounding. He loves to be inside the house sleeping, or sunbathing in the garden.
With people he is very noble and affectionate. He slowly approaches to smell the people he doesn’t know, and once he smells them he allows himself to be petted. He loves the attention and is very affectionate. He is a wonderful dog, happy, affectionate and loyal to his family. On the street he is not yet accustomed to traffic or loud noises yet. He walks well on the lead at the moment and hardly pulls when walking, he likes to stay close to you.
