English Setter, 3 Years Old
UPDATE: Zaro travelled to the UK last year but sadly his adoption has failed and he’s now in foster in Birmingham while he looks for a new home. Zaro (known as Hector in his foster home) is a typical working setter, full of beans on walks but a lovely boy who adores cuddles and just wants to be loved!
Zaro has always lived with another dog at his first home and also in foster, but can find initial meetings quite overwhelming at the moment so he needs slow and steady intros and would benefit from an experienced adopter or somebody really eager to learn how to help him get over his anxiety in certain situations. As you would expect from a young working setter, he’s quite strong and needs some training on walks but he’s going to be a fantastic companion and will replay his new family’s patience and hard work with all the cuddles in the world!
Here’s what his foster mum has to say about him: If you are looking for a best friend, Hector is the dog for you. He loves cuddles and fuss and will happily sit on your lap for hours. He also likes a pamper, his favourite things are having his hair brushed or having his paws moisturised! He’s very food motivated, so will come and sit and wait in exchange for any snacks. He’s still finding the world a bit overwhelming but he has started coming back to us for a reassuring cuddle when things get a bit much and I’m sure, with time, he will realise the world isn’t so scary. In the house he’s such a cheerful, happy boy. He’s very playful but will sit nicely before you throw his toys, we are working on him giving it back once he’s got it! He’s got so much love to give and is so eager to please, he just needs security and kindness to reach his full potential.

Zaro is a small setter, handed in by his hunter because he was no longer wanted. Zaro has a very cheerful character and is very active. Zaro has a lot of energy and he loves to run with his companions. He is very sociable with other dogs, both male and female.
Zaro adores people, he is very affectionate and attached. Zaro is also obedient when you call him within the confines of the shelter where there are no distractions.
