English Setter, 5 Years Old
UPDATE: Very sadly, Voto’s adoption in the UK has not worked out. Now called Otto, he is currently in kennels in Newcastle while he finds his forever home so we would love to find him something soon
Otto is a really stunning boy, the sort of dog that turns heads. His coat is gorgeous and he has the most expressive eyebrows. You can see into his soul when you look into his eyes and the poor boy doesn’t seem to have had the best 5 years so far but we hope we can turn that around for him soon
He’s incredibly gentle when he takes treats, he’s a real sweetie. He is nervous and easily startled at the moment by things like cars or sudden movements so he needs an understanding home without children. He hasn’t lived with another dog before but he’s good with other dogs on walks so we think he would do well in a home with another calm dog or as an only dog.
On walks, he walks very nicely at the moment but that could change in time as he becomes more confident. Walks are very new and there’s a lot going on so he finds it hard to focus all the time but does manage to take treats when he’s feeling a bit happier and confident which would hopefully improve in time too. He is interested in birds as you’d expect from any working setter although not excessively so at the moment. He walks past people and other dogs beautifully, he’s a real pleasure. He’d probably do best in a more rural setting away from traffic and busy areas since he is nervous and easily startled and will take time to gain confidence in these areas
Otto is a gorgeous, soft boy who will make an amazing companion in the right home and anybody who gives him a chance will be well rewarded and will love seeing him grow in confidence and seeing the sparkle come back into those eyes again
HISTORY: Voto is a handsome english setter, coming up to 5 years old (DOB 30.09.17)
The shelter say he’s a spectacular pedigree setter, given to them by his hunter as he was not a natural hunter. He has a magnificent coat and a majestic bearing. He arrived at the shelter with Blay and the two have shared a kennel together for some time. Voto really loves human company and prefers to have them all to himself so we think he’d make a good only dog. He becomes very attached and affectionate with people, he’s a very loyal boy
