Pointer, 5 Years Old
Mickey is a very handsome young male Pointer, he is five years old, his date of birth is 01/01/2018. This gorgeous boy is now in UK foster and doing amazingly well, he is super affectionate with people and a real star.
Mickey loves people and is extremely affectionate, he seeks out people to stroke and pet him. Mickey is a very elegant Pointer and has an athletic bearing. Unlike many of our dogs he was not relinquished by a Spanish hunter but by someone who had kept him as a pet. He lived outside their house and they gave him to the shelter because they had no time to look after him or exercise him.
Mickey is a calm, balanced dog, he loves people, he enjoys the company of other dogs, both male and female but is somewhat independent of them and prefers to sleep alone. He likes to rest and eat in peace without other dogs approaching him.
Mickey walks well on the lead so far, although as he gains confidence he may choose to pull more and he could pull strongly if he wished. He really loves going out for a walk and he can also settle well and be calm.
Mickey is now in UK foster in Surrey, living in a home with male and female Pointers and Setters, he is doing really well and his foster mum says…
“Mickey is a happy affectionate dog who likes nothing more than to sit at your feet with his head on your lap being stroked. He is also happy being left at home alone for short periods, greeting you with a wagging tail when you get back. At the moment he sleeps in his own room with the door open- his choice, so having some ‘alone time’ seems important to him.
He’s not a dog that has so far seemed too interested in running, he happily walks on lead, and off lead in the garden. On his visits to enclosed fields he wanders to the nearest group of trees looking for birds. This could of course change over the coming months as he settles in and grows in confidence.
He has quickly leant to sit, wait, come to his name, walked beside busy roads, ignore bicycles and politely say hello to children and other dogs. He is clever and attentive dog and would probably enjoy learning new skills like scent work or man-trailing. He is particularly partial to picking blackberries and playing with a ball.
He is living with other dogs at present but we also think he would be happy living as an only dog. He likes going in the car and has not yet had accidents in the house. He has not seemed interested in climbing on beds or sofas, but does like to check out the kitchen worktops !
If you would like a super cuddly dog then Mickey would like to meet you.”
