English Setter, 4 Years Old
UPDATE: Dil (formally known as Dul) is currently in foster in Derbyshire and is adapting so well to home life. He is currently living with two resident dogs and gets on with them both well, even snuggling up when he can. He’s a very handsome chap who is taking all the changes in his stride.
Dil travels well by car and loves to go on adventures with his new buddies. His foster mum is teaching him to walk on a lead and he’s doing really well, totally unbothered by passing traffic or other dogs. When he’s at all worried, he will look to her for reassurance.
Dil is currently living with a cat and has done really well integrating. He’d be a great fit for a lot of homes!
Here’s what Dil’s foster mum has to say about him:
Dil has the sweetest soul. You only have to look at him for his tail to start wagging. He also gives the best cuddles and always wants to be by your side. He bonds very deeply to his human and is a sensitive soul.
He’s proven himself to be excellent in the house, and hasn’t destroyed anything other than his toys. He’s now housetrained and he’s also brilliant with my two cats after careful introductions.
Dil is living with another male setter and a female greyhound and he’s been excellent with both. There’s been no squabbles over toys, he eats with the other two in the kitchen and is very polite and sticks to his own bowl. He absolutely loves natural treats and his daily dental stick after his walk. Dil loves his walks and will walk into his harness if presented with it, so you can strap it on him. He can be strong on the lead and he wants to sniff everything, but his recall (on lead) is coming on, and he loves playing with a ball on his walks. A double clip training lead helps curb the pulling, and he loves being on a long line.
Dil is calm in the house as long as his daily needs are met on his walks. He does like to play with his toys, and enjoys a bit of tuggy and bitey face with my setter. He sleeps through the night on my bed without a peep, and he’ll wake me in the morning with a paw to say ‘it’s breakfast time mum!’
HISTORY: Dul is 4 year old English Setter, DOB 18.10.21
Dul is an elegant lad given up by his hunter. He’s a slender setter, gentle and submissive and ever so sweet. He lives in a kennel with other dogs and gets along great with them, even allowing them to share his food. He’s adorable with people, so affectionate and becomes very attached once he gets to know you. He can be slightly shy at first but he warms to people very quickly.
He does not pull on the lead at the moment but isn’t comfortable wearing one as he’s not used to it so he will need some help and training getting used to a wearing a lead and harness for walks like many of our dogs.
