The breeds we home are often known for being brilliant family pets, and with that comes the assumption they are great with children too. We are careful to match dogs to families with children but it is always important to be mindful when it comes to children and dogs to make sure that the dog has the space it needs and the child understand the need for space, the times not to bother a dog and some basic body language too. The dogs we help are not necessarily well rounded dogs who have been socialised with children from the moment they are born and require extra patience and understanding. All dogs will react if they are put in a situation they feel compromised enough in and it’s important to educate our children so we do not push those barriers and everyone remains safe and happy
