English Setter, 11 Years Old
Boy is an 11 year old English Setter, DOB 21.06.13
Boy has had a really rough life, but especially the last 4 years. His hunter developed some mental health issues and stopped taking him his two setters out so they’ve spent the last 4 years shut inside the same small outdoor run, with a hole in the wall as their kennel. Thankfully, his mum contacted a rescue we work very closely with in Spain and asked them to help them. In her words “wherever they end up, they’ll be better off” but of course like all our dogs, they will be looking for the best homes now to make up for their previous life
Boy in particular was rescued in a real state. He had dreadlocks in his ears as well as matting throughout his fur which was filthy to touch. It’s clear they’ve barely had any care at all in recent years. He also cried out in pain when his ears were touched and his hips seemed sore too, hardly surprising given the state he was in and it was straight to the vets when they opened to start him on his journey.
Despite all he’s been through, Boy is a gentle, sweet and affectionate soul. He’s well balanced and gets along with other dogs well, he soon started trying to make friends at the shelter after he arrived, even with much younger dogs asking them to play! He doesn’t show any fear, just a real gratitude to the people helping him.
Boy is looking for a home where he will get lots of TLC and love. He’s currently having his ears treated and has had an x-ray on his back to see where his pain was coming from and while things could be much worse, he does have an issue with one of his vertebrae near his hips which could cause him pain which may need managed in the future. He could live with other dogs or on his own and has also been cat tested
